Happy New Year, friends! Much has happened since my last update here. (To keep up with my news on a more regular basis, please “like” my Facebook page.)
Restore My Soul was released in April 2016 and subsequently landed on the ECPA Christian bestsellers list for three consecutive months (#34 in May, #21 in June and #27 in July). I was blown away! Thank you all so much for buying, reviewing and telling others about my book.
In the months that followed, I had illustrations featured in two issues of The Coloring Studio and five drawings in Everything Beautiful. And then I was surprised by a request from HCI Books to illustrate one of their popular Inkspirations colouring books; this one will be designed to encourage breast cancer survivors. Stay tuned for details on that exciting project, which I’m currently creating sketches for.
If you haven’t yet bought a calendar for 2017 (or would enjoy having one you can colour in), please check out my 2017 Colouring Calendar featuring a positive message each month. I’m offering free shipping within Canada or the United States!
While I work on my current projects, including several freelance article assignments, I have four or five other book ideas percolating in my head–ranging from artsy and fun to more reflective–and will update you on those as they take shape.
Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram to see some of my doodles and scribbles and snapshots of life in Montreal!
A lot has happened in the last several months and I’ve been blown away by the opportunity to add “Illustrator” to my title. (Yes, I’ll have to update my website soon.) After a few years of being encouraged by friends to get serious about doodling–one of my many hobbies–I landed two offers in as many days to have my work published. Here’s what you can look forward to:
We’re still finalizing the cover of my next book, but Truth, Dare, Double Dareis already available for pre-order from Amazon and many other retailers. It’s scheduled to be released on October 1. . . eight more months to go!
Stay tuned for more details in the coming months. In the meantime, have you “liked” my Facebook page yet? Click here to find it.
I never imagined I would see the day when one of my books would published into a foreign language so it was a wonderful surprise this past week to discover that Truth & Dare – One Year of Dynamic Devotions for Girls has been translated into Portuguese and is now available on a few Brazilian websites. Here’s one example.
What a blessing to have an opportunity to reach Portuguese-speaking tween girls with God’s Word!
Thank you all for your continued prayers about this special ministry.
P.S. In other news, I’m three weeks from deadline for submitting the manuscript for the next Truth & Dare book, which is projected to be released in the fall of 2014. Stay tuned for further news on that!
If you’ve been enjoying Truth & Dare, I’ve got good news for you: I’m working on a sequel, which is slated for release in October 2013. I know, that seems a long way away, but it’ll come quickly! 😀
So, I’ll be spending a major chunk of 2012 writing new devotionals for Book 2. And here’s where YOU come in! If you — or a young lady you know — has a great story of being courageous and daring for the Lord (kind of like the ones in Book 1), I’d love to hear from you. If I end up using the story in my next book, you’ll get a free copy!
We’re just a few days away from officially launching the promotional campaign for Truth & Dare: One Year of Dynamic Devotions for Girls, which hits bookstores on October 1! Check back here for full details about the web page for T&D, and lots of other interesting information.
In the meantime, if you’re on Facebook, please “like” the T&D page: www.facebook.com/truth.dare.devotions. We’ll be having give-aways and you’ll get to interact with other T&D fans. See you there!
Exciting things are happening in the book department:
1. A couple of weeks ago I got to see two potential cover designs for my next book, Truth and Dare, and I really liked them both! (This process has also introduced me to designer Luke Flowers. Check out his work!) I collected helpful feedback from a dozen or two friends, many of them tween girls (my target audience) and we’ve narrowed it down to one design. A bit of tweaking here and there and it’ll be good to go!
2. Later this month I’ll be doing a first review of the edited version of Truth and Dare, which means we’re getting closer to designing the interior of the book and typesetting the copy.
3. I can’t reveal too much yet but the proposal for a boys’ devotional book is in the works. Andrew Rutledge and I have teamed up to work on this project and are hoping to deliver a proposal a publisher simply can’t turn down! (Prayers for this are welcomed.)
